Captain Peacock Dies

Are You Being ServedBritish actor Frank Thorton who played Captain Peacock in my favorite series, Are You Being Served? recently died at age 92.

He played the part so well I could not imagine him as anything other than the pompous floorwalker at Grace Brothers department store.

Of the cast, only the bald, jug-eared manager Mr. Rumbold is still living.  Even the young Miss Brahms has aged and passed on.  I assume Mrs. Slocombe’s pussy, that she often spoke of but we never saw, thankfully, has passed on, too.

A great shame, never seeing Mrs Slocombe’s pussy; must have been one of those fluffy over-fed breeds. A great shame indeed.
