Phillies Fans and the World Series

I have been learning baseball from my friend Jim for two years now.  I have learned to always refer to the Phillies as “we” or “us.”

But I have not learned everything,  I had been rooting for the Cardinals in the World Series based on the logic that their win would prove it took a world champion to beat the Phillies.

No, no, says Jim., shaking his head sadly.  The choice is not a logical one.  The Cardinals are to be forever despised for knocking the Phillies out of the playoffs.  They would not have even been there were it not for the Phillies eliminating Atlanta.  They, too, must taste bitter defeat as a just punishment.  Even next year, they should only grovel in the cellar.   Root for any team but them.

Live and learn.  Tonight will tell.
