Class of 1959

We have a new receptionist at the community center, a woman of about my age, and I asked her where she had lived before coming to Wilmington.  (This is a common question here.  Almost everyone in Delaware came from somewhere else.)  She said she grew up in Glenside, then moved to Aldan.  Did I ever hear of Aldan?  Of course, I said.  I went to Lansdowne-Aldan High School.

“So did I!” she replied.

“What year?”

“Class of 1959”

Five years difference is just one year too much.  There is no overlap.  The only way any of us would know her is if we had a younger sibling in her class, or maybe she was a neighbor.

Let me know if any of you knew her or her family.  I already checked with Ed Fitzsimmons and he does not.  Her name then was Alice Shober and she lived on Magnolia Avenue.  She is a hot lady, slim, pretty and vivacious, so she was probably very hot in 1959, if that jogs your memory any.

My reasons for writing this blog are spelled out in the posting of 10/1/2012, Montaigne's Essays. They are probably not what you think.
