Another classmate found—Ralph Russo, number 51 of the Lansdowne Lords. But I did not find him, he found me through the Internet. He lives in Tall Timbers, Maryland, a tiny dot among the crabs and oysters about 50 miles south of Washington, DC. It was good to hear from Ralph. We go all the way back to childhood in East Lansdowne. He mentioned he saw Bill Hayes in an airport years ago. Bill looked exactly as he did in high school, so Ralph recognized him immediately.
Ralph has a son living in Ocean City, so I may have convinced him to come to our mini-reunion. It is a long way, though.
The mini-reunion date, June 11, falls on Monday this year, so there should be no weekend crowds. The meeting is 2 PM at the Music Pier, rain or shine. We usually gather around the benches under cover, and, so far, we have always found each other. After a pleasant time of swapping stories, some go off together to a restaurant, some get boardwalk pizza at Mack & Manco’s, some living further away just go home.
