My e-mail address is now RWalck@Verizon.net.
This is not DSL, but Verizon’s optical cable that they ran along the back of my property in March. I had been using a Comcast 6-month trial, still keeping AOL for it’s dial-up that I use on our usual April vacation in Florida. Comcast would not match Verizon’s cheaper price, so I moved on. The speed on Verizon is 5 mbps, soon to be 10 mbps, and I am dropping AOL altogether. The hookup was expensive for Verizon, $500 just for the box at my house that converts the optical signal to digital and a technician worked most of a day to set it up, but they will someday also offer TV service. My phone now comes in on the new cable, but that is no better nor worse.
Verizon supplied a program to switch bookmarks and e-mail addresses. It even automatically notified everyone of the change, twice even, who knows why? About half the notices came back as undeliverable. E-mail addresses are much more volatile than real addresses and it may be a good idea to clear out old ones once a year.
All this, including vacation, has slowed down the blog, but now, onward and upward. Excelsior!
